How to Dry Wet Metal Sponges (Iron, Gold, Diamond, Emerald, Netherite)
Why Sponges Get Wet
Every metal sponge in this mod has a wet counterpart: Wet Iron Sponge, Wet Gold Sponge, Wet Diamond Sponge, Wet Emerald Sponge, and Wet Netherite Sponge. When you use a dry metal sponge to soak up water, it becomes the wet version and stops absorbing until it's dried again.
Drying Methods
Place the wet sponge in a furnace and smelt it — this is the standard drying step for sponge-type items and matches how vanilla sponges are dried. The output is the corresponding dry metal sponge, ready to use again. If the mod adds a specific drying block or process, JEI will list it under the wet sponge's uses; check there first so you don't waste fuel.
Practical Tips
- Keep a furnace near your build site so you can dry sponges without walking back to base.
- Netherite Sponges are the most valuable, so dry them promptly rather than leaving them sitting wet in a chest.
- If you're draining a large area, rotate between two or three sponges so one can dry while another works.
- Wet sponges still stack and store fine — there's no rush, but a wet sponge is useless until dried.
