How to Create a Key-Value Task in Extra Quests
Setting Up the Task
Extra Quests adds key-value based tasks that track progress against a named key rather than a fixed item or block. Open your quest file in the FTB Quests editor and add a new task. From the task type list, pick the Extra Quests key-value task entry instead of the vanilla item, checkmark, or advancement tasks.
Defining the Key and Values
In the task's config panel you set the key name — this is the string your other systems (commands, rewards, scripts) will reference. Then define the set of values the task accepts. A task can require a single value or a whole set, so you can make one task that completes only when several distinct values have been supplied.
Completing the Task In-Game
Players progress the task when the matching key is incremented through Extra Quests' command integration. Wire up whatever triggers the increment — a command block, a scripted event, or a reward from another quest — using the same key string you defined. Because the key is a plain string, you can reuse it across multiple quests and rewards.
Testing
Load into a world in creative, open the quest book, and trigger your increment source. Confirm the task ticks up and completes at the required value count. If nothing moves, the key string in your trigger almost certainly does not match the key in the task definition.
