How to Add a Timer to a Quest Task

Why Use Timers

Extra Quests adds timers to tasks, letting a task expire or become time-limited instead of staying open indefinitely. This is useful for timed challenges, limited-time events, or tasks that should only be completable within a window.

Attaching a Timer

In the FTB Quests editor, open the task you want to time and find the Extra Quests timer option in its settings. Enable the timer and set its duration. The duration is expressed in the mod's time unit for tasks — set it to match how long you want players to have once the task becomes active.

How the Timer Behaves

Once the timer starts, the task counts down. When it runs out, the task can no longer be completed (or resets, depending on how you configure it). Combine timers with daily or weekly tasks if you want a repeating window rather than a one-shot deadline.

Combining With Other Features

Timers stack naturally with key-value tasks and command rewards: a timed task that increments a key, then fires a command reward on completion, makes a compact event loop. Test by starting the task and letting the timer elapse to confirm it locks or resets as intended, and check that the quest book displays the remaining time correctly to players.
