How to Reduce Lag from Explosion Effects in the Explosive Enhancement Mod
Understanding the Performance Impact
The mod is designed to be lightweight, but very large explosions or many simultaneous blasts can still stress weaker machines because each one spawns extra particles like smoke, sparks, shockwaves, and bubbles. If you notice frame drops when TNT goes off, the fix is usually to trim which effects are active rather than removing the mod.
Trimming Particle Types
Open the config file and disable the heaviest or least important effects first. Shockwaves and dense smoke plumes tend to be the most visually busy, so turning those off while keeping a subtle flash can recover performance quickly. If you play on a server with frequent explosions, consider disabling the mod's effects entirely via the master toggle and re-enabling them only for single-player sessions where you want the spectacle.
Other Adjustments
Lower your overall Minecraft particle settings in the video options menu, since the mod's particles still respect that global cap. Reducing render distance also helps because distant explosion particles won't be drawn. If you use other visual mods alongside this one, test them together, since stacked particle effects compound the load. After each change, trigger a controlled explosion in a test world and watch your frame rate to confirm the improvement before returning to normal play.
