How to Make Underwater TNT Explosions Look Better with the Explosive Enhancement Mod

Why Underwater Blasts Look Different

Vanilla Minecraft barely changes explosion visuals underwater, so TNT detonated in an ocean or lake looks flat. The Explosive Enhancement Mod adds dedicated underwater effects, most notably bubble particles that rise and disperse around the blast, plus adjusted smoke and shockwave behavior suited to a submerged environment.

Setting Up a Good Test

Dig a small pool or find a natural body of water at least a few blocks deep. Place a block of TNT on the floor of the water and ignite it with flint and steel or a redstone signal. Stand a few blocks back and watch the moment of detonation. You should see bubbles burst outward alongside the usual flash, giving the blast a much more convincing submerged feel.

Tuning the Effect

Open the mod's config file and confirm the underwater or bubble-related toggle is enabled. If the bubbles are too dense or too sparse for your taste, check whether the config exposes a density or intensity option and adjust it. Larger explosions naturally produce more intense visuals because the mod scales effects with blast power, so try a cluster of TNT if you want a dramatic underwater display. Remember that disabling the master toggle turns off all of this, so keep it on if you want the underwater look.
