How to Find and Loot a Forgotten Well in Explorations Mod

Forgotten Wells are small surface structures that look like a ruined ring of stone bricks around a central shaft. They are easy to miss because they blend into plains, forests, and savanna terrain.

Locating a Well

Scan for a low, circular arrangement of cracked stone bricks with a dark opening in the middle, often surrounded by a few loose cobblestone blocks. They generate on flat ground, so traveling across open biomes on foot or by boat gives the best odds. If you use a structure-finding command or an explorer's map mod, search for the well's structure ID rather than a specific biome.

Looting Safely

1. Do not jump straight into the shaft. The bottom often opens into a small chamber or connects to a cave system.

2. Place a water bucket or build a ladder column down the side so you can climb back out.

3. Light the chamber with torches before moving, since hostile mobs can spawn in the dark.

4. Check chests and any decorative blocks around the rim — loot is usually modest (basic ores, food, and utility items), so treat the well as an early-game supply stop rather than a major dungeon.

5. If the shaft drops into a larger cave, mark the entrance with a torch or banner so you can find it again.
