Using ExpandAbility to Control Swimming and Fluid Walking
What ExpandAbility Does
ExpandAbility is a library mod, meaning it does not add items, blocks, or recipes on its own. Instead, it gives other mods (and, where supported, configuration) finer control over vanilla movement abilities. If you installed it expecting new content, you will not find any — it exists to be a dependency for mods that need these hooks.
The abilities it exposes are:
- Swimming control — allow swimming outside of fluids, or disable swimming while inside fluids.
- Walking on fluids — an experimental ability that lets an entity treat fluid surfaces as walkable.
How to Use It
Because ExpandAbility is a library, you generally do not interact with it directly. Install it alongside a mod that depends on it, and that mod will toggle the abilities it needs. The fluid-walking ability is marked experimental, so expect rough edges if a dependent mod enables it.
If nothing in your mod list requires ExpandAbility, it will have no visible effect in-game.
