Capture Cinematic Screenshots with Volumetric Lighting
Position Yourself for Light Beams
Volumetric lighting looks most dramatic when sunlight filters through obstacles. Position your camera so the sun is partially obscured by trees, tall structures, or terrain features. The thicker the canopy or structure, the more visible the light beams become. Early morning and late afternoon angles produce the most striking results.
Use Time of Day Strategically
Daytime offers bright, crisp volumetric effects with strong directional shadows. Sunset and sunrise create warm, atmospheric beams. Experiment with /time set commands to find the lighting angle that best showcases your build. Partially cloudy skies can soften harsh shadows while maintaining atmospheric depth.
Frame Your Shot
Compose your screenshot so foreground elements (trees, structures) cast shadows across your main subject. This layering creates depth and makes volumetric effects more noticeable. Stand at ground level rather than high altitude—this angle emphasizes light beams filtering downward.
