Adjust Shadow Behavior Across Different Times of Day
Understanding Dynamic Shadows
Evelite Shaders casts shadows that follow the sun and moon as they move across the sky. This creates realistic lighting that changes throughout the day cycle, but you can fine-tune how shadows behave.
Shader Configuration Options
Access your shader settings and locate shadow-related parameters. Look for options controlling shadow distance (how far shadows render from your position), shadow resolution (sharpness), and shadow intensity (darkness). Increasing shadow distance makes distant mountains and terrain cast visible shadows, while higher resolution makes nearby shadows crisper.
Time-Specific Adjustments
During midday, the sun is high and shadows are short and dark. Reduce shadow intensity slightly if this creates harsh contrast. At sunrise and sunset, shadows become long and dramatic—increase intensity to emphasize this cinematic effect.
Night shadows from the moon are naturally subtle. Some shader configurations allow separate moon shadow settings; enable these to make moonlit landscapes more visible and atmospheric.
Testing Your Changes
Load into a world and use the /time set command to jump between different times of day. Observe how your adjustments affect shadow appearance at each time. Fine-tune until shadows feel natural and enhance rather than overwhelm your world's appearance.
