Getting Started with Fertile Soil

Farming with Fertile Soil

Fertile Soil is the farming-focused block in Essentials Mod. It comes in ten variants: one each for wheat, carrots, potatoes, and beetroot, plus six for the different saplings.

Place a crop on the matching Fertile Soil variant the same way you would on farmland. The crop grows as though it were on hydrated farmland, so you do not need to place water nearby. Crops on Fertile Soil also cannot be trampled, which means you can walk over them without destroying them.

The key mechanic is self-replanting. At random intervals, if nothing is currently growing on top of the soil, it will replant the appropriate crop on its own. This lets you harvest a mature crop and leave the block to reseed itself, automating part of your farm without extra redstone or dispensers.

Match each soil variant to its crop for the replanting behavior to work.
