Diagnose Multiplayer Connection Issues
Access Network Information
Enable the Client Latency and Network Packets displays through your F12 HUD settings. These options only appear on multiplayer servers.
Understand Latency (Ping)
Client Latency shows your ping in milliseconds—the time it takes for data to travel between you and the server. Latency under 100ms is generally good. Spikes above 200ms may cause lag, delayed block breaks, or movement stuttering.
Monitor Packet Flow
Network Packets displays sent and received packet counts. Unusually high or fluctuating packet rates can indicate server stress or connection instability.
Identify Connection Problems
If latency is consistently high, you may have a poor connection to the server. If packets are dropping or irregular, it could signal network interference or server issues. Stable, low latency with steady packet flow indicates a healthy connection.
Take Action
If you notice problems, try moving closer to your router, closing bandwidth-heavy applications, or switching servers. Share latency data with server administrators if you suspect server-side issues.
