How to Protect Your Item Streams with Ice Blocks

Why Use Ice Protection

If you use flowing water to move items around your base, you don't want every stone item eroding mid-transit. The mod includes an ice-block safeguard: placing ice under the water stream prevents erosion in that area.

Build the Protected Channel

1. Dig or build your water channel as usual.

2. Replace the floor blocks beneath the flowing water with ice blocks.

3. Confirm the config option preventErosionIfAboveIceBlock is enabled (it is by default).

Any stone-type item that passes over an ice-block floor will not erode, so it arrives at its destination unchanged.

Mixing Protected and Eroding Sections

You can combine both behaviors in one stream:

  • Use ice under the sections where you want items to travel safely.
  • Remove the ice (use normal stone/dirt) under the sections where you want erosion to happen.

This lets you route items past a sorting area first, then drop them into an erosion zone only when you actually want them converted.

Troubleshooting

If items are still eroding over ice, double-check that the ice is directly beneath the water block the item is sitting in, and that the config toggle hasn't been disabled.
