How to Erode Stone into Sand, Red Sand, or Clay

Set Up a Basic Erosion Stream

Place a source block of water and let it flow downhill for at least a few blocks so the current is strong enough to carry items. Drop your stone-type blocks into the flowing section — not into still water. The mod only erodes blocks that are moving with the current.

Match the Block to the Output

Different inputs erode into different results, so pick your block based on what you want:

  • Sand: Cobblestone, Stone, Andesite, Granite, Diorite, Gravel, and similar overworld stone blocks.
  • Red Sand: Red Sandstone, Netherrack, Nether Bricks, and other nether-themed stone blocks.
  • Clay: All non-glazed terracotta blocks (glazed terracotta is excluded).

After the configured erosion time (150 seconds by default), the block transforms automatically while still floating in the stream. Collect the output at the end of the flow, ideally with a hopper or a collection pool so items don't despawn.

Tips

  • Keep the stream at least 2–3 blocks long so items have room to travel and convert.
  • If nothing is converting, check that the water is actually flowing (not a still pool) and that you're not accidentally under an ice block.
