How to Build an Automated Stone-to-Sand Farm
Gather Your Inputs
You need a renewable source of stone-type
blocks. A cobblestone generator (lava meeting water) is the classic choice, since cobblestone erodes into sand. Alternatively, feed in stone, andesite, granite, or diorite from a quarry or miner.
Design the Flow
1. Build a channel of flowing water at least 3–4
blocks long.
2. At the upstream end, drop your stone
blocks in (via hopper, dropper, or manual drop).
3. Let the current carry them downstream. Erosion happens during transit.
4. At the downstream end, place a hopper feeding into a chest to collect the sand.
Tune the Timing
Make sure the travel time through the stream is at least as long as durationInSecondsStoneErodes. If items reach the hopper before converting, either lengthen the channel or lower the erosion duration in the config.
Avoid Accidental Protection
Do not place ice under the erosion section — that would stop conversion. Reserve ice for any
transport segments before or after the farm.
Scale Up
Run multiple parallel channels fed by the same generator, or stack channels vertically with droppers. Each channel needs its own collection hopper. With a steady cobblestone supply, this becomes a fully passive sand farm.
