Improve FPS and Reduce Lag
Check Your Current Performance
Look at the FPS counter in the top-left corner of your screen. This shows your real-time frame rate and helps you identify performance issues.
Adjust Shader Complexity
Open the Iris Shaders menu (press O) and switch to a simpler shader if you're experiencing lag. Shaders with fewer visual effects consume less GPU power. You can also disable shader options like shadows or ambient occlusion to boost FPS.
Optimize Video Settings
Access your video settings and consider:
- Lowering render distance
- Disabling or reducing particle effects
- Turning off smooth lighting or reducing its quality
- Closing unnecessary background applications
Leverage Sodium
The modpack includes Sodium, which is already optimizing your rendering. If lag persists, verify that Sodium is enabled in your mod list. This mod significantly improves chunk loading and overall performance compared to vanilla rendering.
Monitor System Resources
Ensure your system has adequate RAM allocated to Minecraft (typically 4-8GB for modded play with shaders).
