EpheroLib Mod Guide: What It Does and Why It Matters

Understanding EpheroLib

EpheroLib is a technical library mod by thethonk. It adds nothing to the game on its own, so you will not find new blocks, items, or mobs here. Instead, it exists to make life easier for mod developers.

Its main purpose is to simplify and speed up mod creation by providing shared tools. These include a common config system that works across Fabric and Forge, a networking abstraction that hides the differences between Fabric and Forge packets, and server-side translations using GSON. The translation feature means serverside mods on Fabric or Forge do not need to send lang files to the client, while still localizing text based on the language the client sends to the server.

EpheroLib also offers a GSON-based storage abstraction for saving data per world. If you are a player, you generally do not need to install this mod unless another mod requires it. If you are a developer, it bundles several useful systems into one dependency.
