How to Configure Enhanced Block Entities Per-Block (Chests, Signs, Beds, Shulkers)
Enhanced Block Entities (EBE) lets you choose which block types it optimizes. This is useful when a specific block looks wrong with your setup, or when you want to isolate a performance problem.
Find the Config
Depending on your loader, EBE's config is either a JSON file in the config folder or editable through Mod Menu (Fabric) or a similar in-game mod list. Open it and look for a section listing supported blocks: chests, ender chests, signs, bells, beds, shulker boxes, decorated pots.
Toggle Blocks On or Off
1. Locate the toggle for the block type you want to change.
2. Set it to false (or uncheck it) to make EBE skip that block and use vanilla rendering.
3. Save the file or apply the change in-game.
4. Reload resources with F3 + T.
When to Disable a Block
- Chests: disable if a resource pack's chest model breaks or the lid animation stutters.
- Signs: disable if sign text renders incorrectly or glow text misbehaves.
- Beds: disable if bedding textures or pillow geometry look wrong.
- Shulker boxes: disable if colors or opening animation glitch.
- Bells and decorated pots: disable if they vanish at distance or flicker.
Verify the Change
Place the block, look at it from a distance, and open it if it has an animation. If it behaves like vanilla, the toggle worked. Re-enable it later if you fix the underlying pack conflict.
