What the Enhanced AI Mod Changes

The Enhanced AI Mod makes hostile mobs noticeably harder to avoid. Their senses are improved, so they detect players from farther away and can even sense you through walls. This means hiding behind terrain is far less reliable than in vanilla Minecraft.

Mobs also gain new movement and combat abilities. They can climb ladders and vines to chase you upward, and all mobs swim faster. Monsters will break out of boats and minecarts they get stuck in, so trapping them that way no longer works. They also flee from exploding Creepers and ignited TNT.

Some mobs can ride others, such as a Skeleton on a Spider. Zombies may spawn with a pickaxe and mine toward you, and can also spawn with other gear. Expect smarter, more coordinated attacks and a much more unpredictable survival experience overall.
