Upgrading Your SAG Mill with Endergy Grinding Balls

Grinding balls are consumable upgrades for the SAG Mill. Endergy adds five tiers, each giving better ore multiplication and durability than the last.

The Tier Order

From weakest to strongest: Crude Steel, Crystalline Alloy, Melodic Alloy, Vivid Alloy, Stellar Alloy. Each tier lasts longer and produces more bonus output. You craft a grinding ball from the corresponding alloy ingots in a shaped recipe, then right-click the SAG Mill with the ball in hand to insert it. Only one ball fits per mill at a time.

Practical Tips

Do not waste a Stellar Alloy ball on a low-throughput mill — save it for a mill that is constantly fed. Crude Steel balls are cheap enough to use everywhere early on. When a ball wears out it disappears, so keep spares in a chest next to the mill. If you are processing a huge ore backlog, insert your best ball first, then downgrade as your stock of high-tier balls runs dry. Combine grinding balls with a SAG Mill that has the correct flint or dark steel grinding ball slot empty — Endergy balls occupy the same slot as vanilla Ender IO grinding balls, so you cannot stack two.
