Recover an Enchantment from a Damaged or Unrepairable Item

Salvaging Enchantments

If you have a tool or weapon that's too damaged to repair normally, or uses a material you can no longer obtain:

1. Gather the damaged enchanted item

2. Access the enchantment transfer interface

3. Place the damaged item in the input slot

4. Add an empty book to receive the enchantment

5. Select which enchantment to extract

6. Pay the experience cost and confirm

What Happens Next

The enchantment transfers to the book regardless of the item's durability state. Your damaged tool remains in your inventory (still broken), but you've successfully preserved the enchantment.

Reapplying Your Enchantment

Take the enchanted book to an anvil and apply it to a new, undamaged tool of your choice. This lets you keep powerful enchantments even when the original item becomes unusable, avoiding the frustration of losing rare or high-level enchantments to wear and tear.
