Create Atmospheric Builds with EmberVoid's Shadows

Understand Shadow Behavior

EmberVoid casts realistic shadows from blocks and structures. Shadows are darkest at midday and soften during sunrise and sunset. Plan builds around this—tall structures create dramatic shadows that change throughout the day.

Design for Shadow Drama

Build towers, trees, or walls on open terrain where shadows will be visible and impactful. Avoid placing structures in already-shaded areas like deep forests, where shadow effects blend together. Isolated structures show off EmberVoid's depth best.

Use Lighting to Complement Shadows

Place torches and lanterns strategically so they glow noticeably against EmberVoid's darker nights. The contrast between artificial light and deep shadows creates a spooky, fantasy atmosphere perfect for castles, dungeons, or mystery builds.

Time Your Screenshots

Visit your builds at different times of day. Late afternoon provides the longest, most dramatic shadows. Midnight shows how your lighting design stands out against the dark sky.

Experiment with Materials

Different blocks reflect EmberVoid's lighting differently. Dark materials absorb light, while lighter blocks bounce it. Use this to guide player movement through your builds or highlight important areas.
