Using Embeddium with Shaders and High Refresh Rate Monitors

Embeddium supports high refresh rate monitors and multiple GPUs, which matters if you have a gaming display and want smooth motion instead of just a high average frame rate. It also plays a role when you use shaders, though shader support depends on the shader mod you have installed alongside it.

Unlocking Your Monitor's Refresh Rate

1. Check your operating system's display settings and confirm the monitor is set to its highest refresh rate.

2. In Minecraft, open the video settings and make sure the frame rate limit is set high enough — or unlimited — so the game can actually reach your monitor's rate.

3. Leave VSync off if you want the highest possible frame rate, or turn it on if you prefer no tearing.

4. Watch the frame rate counter while moving the camera. If it sits well below your refresh rate, lower render distance or graphics quality.

Shaders and Multiple GPUs

  • Install a compatible shader mod and shader pack, then enable them through that mod's menu rather than Embeddium's.
  • If performance drops sharply with shaders on, reduce shadow resolution and disable extra effects first.
  • On systems with two GPUs, confirm the correct one is selected in your OS graphics settings.

Change one setting at a time and test in a busy area so you can tell what actually helps.
