Improve Frame Rate in Large Modpacks

Why Your FPS Drops in Modpacks

Embeddium replaces Minecraft's default rendering engine with a modern OpenGL pipeline optimized for complex environments. In heavy modpacks with many mods adding blocks, entities, and visual effects, the standard renderer struggles. Embeddium processes chunk data more efficiently, reducing CPU and GPU bottlenecks.

Steps to Maximize Performance

1. Ensure Embeddium is loaded – Check your mod list in-game (F3 screen). Embeddium should appear as an active mod.

2. Adjust video settings – Open Options > Video Settings. Lower render distance if still experiencing lag, but Embeddium should allow higher distances than vanilla.

3. Pair with Oculus – If using shader packs, install Oculus alongside Embeddium. Embeddium acts as the rendering backend for Oculus shaders, ensuring compatibility and better performance than alternatives.

4. Monitor memory usage – Embeddium reduces memory overhead. If your game still stutters during long sessions, check for other memory-heavy mods or increase allocated RAM.

5. Test chunk loading – Fly around your world. You should notice faster chunk rendering and smoother transitions between loaded areas compared to unmodded Minecraft.
