How to Trim an Elytra on a Server or in Multiplayer

What works where

The smithing table recipe for elytra trims is handled by the mod. On a server, the mod must be installed server-side for the recipe to function; if only you have it, the smithing table will not produce a trimmed elytra. Check with the server owner whether the mod is present before gathering materials.

Steps on a modded server

1. Confirm the server runs the mod (ask, or check whether other players have trimmed elytras).

2. Gather your elytra, the smithing template, and the matching mineral.

3. Use any smithing table — including one in a village or another player's base — to apply the trim.

4. The trimmed elytra is a normal item, so it can be traded, stored in chests, and carried between worlds that have the mod.

Visibility and packs

Other players only see your trim if their client can render it. Players without the mod, or with resource packs that lack elytra trim textures, may see a plain elytra. This is a display difference, not a loss of the trim — the item still carries its trim data. If you run a server, tell players which resource pack to use so everyone sees trims consistently.
