Fixing Common Eccentric Tome Problems

A Book Won't Go In

If dragging a book into the Tome does nothing, the book is likely not a supported guidebook. The Tome only accepts mod guidebooks built on the Patchouli system or similar guide formats — vanilla Written Books, Writable Books, and Enchanted Books are not accepted. Check that the book actually opens a guide interface when used on its own; if it does not, the Tome will not take it.

The Tome Is Empty After Crafting

This is normal. A freshly crafted Tome stores nothing. You must add books yourself by opening the interface and placing them in the slots. There is no way to auto-import books from chests.

I Lost My Tome

Because all your stored guides live inside the single Tome item, losing it (death, lava, void) means losing every book inside. There is no separate backup. To reduce risk, keep the Tome in an ender chest or a safe base chest when exploring dangerous areas, and carry it only when you actually need to read a guide. If you die, retrieve your items quickly before they despawn.
