How to Open a Shulker Box Without Placing It Down

The Basic Interaction

With Easy Shulker Boxes installed, you no longer need to place a Shulker Box on the ground to see what is inside it. The mod hooks into the vanilla inventory screen, so the interaction happens entirely from your character's inventory GUI.

1. Open your inventory as usual.

2. Move your cursor over a Shulker Box item sitting in any inventory slot.

3. Press Left Shift while hovering over it.

A second GUI panel opens beside your inventory showing the Shulker Box's contents. You can now see every stack inside without ever placing the block.

Closing and Reopening

To close the Shulker Box view, simply move your cursor away or close your inventory. The box stays in the same slot it was in — nothing is dropped, nothing is placed. You can reopen it any time by hovering and pressing Left Shift again.

This works for Shulker Boxes stored anywhere in your inventory, including your hotbar. It also means you can check contents while standing on a cliff, in mid-air, or anywhere placing a block would be inconvenient or dangerous. If you keep multiple Shulker Boxes, you can flip between them quickly by hovering over each one and pressing Left Shift in turn.
