Optimize Performance While Maintaining Visual Quality
Access Performance Settings
Open the Earth Shaders configuration menu and look for a "Performance" or "Quality" section. This area contains options to balance visual fidelity with frame rate.
Reduce Expensive Effects
Identify and lower settings that impact performance most:
- Shadow resolution: Lower shadow map resolution reduces GPU load while maintaining soft shadows.
- Reflection quality: Decrease reflection detail or distance to improve frame rates near water.
- Lighting samples: Reduce the number of light calculations per frame if available.
- Ambient occlusion: Disable or lower this effect if performance is critical.
Test Frame Rate Impact
After each adjustment, observe your FPS in different environments. Open areas and water-heavy scenes are good performance benchmarks.
Find Your Balance
Earth Shaders is designed to feel natural without extreme performance demands. You can often reduce one or two settings significantly without losing the mod's characteristic bright, calm aesthetic.
Monitor Long-Term Performance
Play for several minutes in your main world to ensure consistent frame rates during normal gameplay, not just in menus.
