How to Grow Mushroom Trees: Jellyshroom, Cloudcap and Lightcap
Where These Trees Grow
Jellyshroom, Cloudcap and Lightcap are the mushroom-style Dynamic Aether trees. They are visually distinct — broad caps instead of leafy canopies — and they drop Cap items rather than seeds or cones. They typically appear in the Aether's darker or more magical biomes, so explore beyond the standard sky islands if you cannot find them near your spawn.
Planting and Spacing
Place a Cap on suitable Aether soil to start a new mushroom tree. Like other Dynamic Trees, these grow slowly and need vertical and horizontal space — the cap widens as it matures, so do not plant them against walls or under low ceilings. Give each one several blocks of clearance. If growth stalls, check for blocks directly above the sapling.
Harvesting Caps
Chop the trunk from the base to fell the tree, or break the cap blocks directly to collect more Cap items. Breaking the cap manually is the better option if you want to replant, since felling may drop fewer caps or scatter them. Because these trees are rarer, consider keeping a dedicated farm plot so you always have Caps on hand for crafting or further planting.
