How to Start a Dynamic Cactus and Mushroom Farm

Planning the Plot

Dynamic Trees Plus adds cactus trees (including pillar and pipe cactus) and mushroom trees, and both grow into multi-block shapes. Before planting, clear a flat area with enough vertical and horizontal space — a cactus tree's arms and a mushroom tree's cap both spread outward, so tight spacing causes overlap and makes harvesting awkward. Separate your cactus plot from your mushroom plot, since cacti prefer bright dry ground while mushrooms prefer shade.

Planting Your Starters

For cacti, plant pillar cactus seeds or pipe cactus seeds on sand or another cactus-supporting block. For mushrooms, place brown or red mushrooms on mycelium, podzol, or dirt in a shaded spot. Give each starter a gap of a few blocks so the mature trees don't merge.

Harvesting and Renewing

Harvest saguaro fruit and mushroom caps from mature trees without felling the whole structure where possible, so the tree keeps producing. Collect any seeds that drop — pillar cactus seeds, pipe cactus seeds, and spare mushrooms — and replant them to expand. Fence the cactus area so you don't brush against it and take damage. Store your harvest in labeled chests: fruit, caps, and seeds each have different uses, and keeping them sorted makes crafting and trading much faster.
