Enable Dynamic Lighting for Your Held Items

Activate the Shader

Dynamic Lights Shaders works automatically once installed, but you may need to enable it in your shader settings. Open your shader options menu (usually accessible from Video Settings) and look for the Dynamic Lights or Held Item Lighting option. Toggle it on if it appears disabled.

Hold a Light Source

Pick up any glowing item in your inventory—torches, lanterns, glowstone, or soul lanterns all work. Simply hold the item in your main hand or off-hand. The area around you will immediately illuminate, casting light onto nearby blocks and entities as if you were holding a real light source.

Adjust Your View

The light follows your position and updates in real time as you move. Walk through caves or dark areas and watch how the lighting adapts to your surroundings. The effect works in all lighting conditions, making it especially useful at night or deep underground.

Switch Items Freely

You can swap between different light sources without restarting. Each glowing item produces its own natural light level, so experiment with different sources to find your preference for exploration.
