Enable Dynamic Lighting for Your Handheld Items
Access Shader Settings
Dynamic Light Shaders activates handheld lighting automatically once installed, but you may need to verify it's enabled in your shader options.
1. Open your shader pack settings (usually accessed through the pause menu under Video Settings → Shaders)
2. Look for options related to "Dynamic Lights" or "Handheld Lighting"
3. Ensure the feature is toggled on
4. Apply and close the settings
Test Your Setup
Hold a torch, lantern, glowstone, or other glowing item in your main hand. The blocks immediately around you should now glow softly, creating a warm light radius. If you don't see the effect:
- Try holding the item in your main hand (not offhand)
- Check that your graphics card supports shader effects
- Verify the shader pack is actually loaded in your Video Settings
- Older computers may need to lower other graphics settings to see the bloom effect clearly
The lighting should update in real-time as you move and turn, illuminating caves and dark areas without requiring you to place torches on walls.
