How to Breed and Hatch Crackles from Eggs
Finding Crackle Eggs
Search lush caves for Crackle eggs lying on the ground or in natural formations. These eggs are the starting point for hatching your own Crackles. Collect as many as you need for your breeding operation.
Setting Up a Hatchery
Place hay bales in a dedicated area—this is the incubation surface Crackle eggs require. Arrange your eggs on top of hay bales in rows or clusters. The eggs will gradually progress through their hatching cycle as long as they remain on hay.
Harvesting Shards
Once Crackles hatch and mature, they shed crackle shards over time. Collect these shards as they drop—you'll need them for crafting Ornate Eggs and reviving extinct creatures. A larger hatchery with more Crackles produces shards faster.
Protecting Your Hatchery
Keep the area well-lit and secure from hostile mobs. Crackles can deflect arrows, but they're still vulnerable to melee attacks. Consider building walls or using fences to protect your breeding operation from wandering threats.
