Control Film Grain and Light Flicker Effects
Find Visual Effect Toggles
In the shader settings menu, look for options labeled Film Grain and Light Flicker or similar names. These old-movie effects are what give Dreadlight its classic horror film appearance.
Adjust Film Grain Intensity
Film grain adds a grainy texture to your screen like an old camera. If it's causing eye strain or you find it distracting, reduce the grain intensity slider. You can also disable it entirely if you prefer a cleaner image while keeping other horror elements active.
Manage Light Flicker
Light flicker makes torches and light sources pulse unpredictably, creating tension. If this effect is too intense or causes discomfort, lower the flicker frequency or intensity. Some players disable flicker entirely while keeping shadows and fog for a more subtle horror feel.
Combine Effects for Your Style
You don't have to use all features at full strength. Try disabling film grain but keeping flicker, or vice versa. Experiment with different combinations until you find a setup that feels scary without being exhausting to play with for extended periods.
