Adjust Shadow Depth for Better Cave Visibility

Access Shader Settings

Open your in-game menu while playing and navigate to the shader options panel. Look for the Crushing Darkness or shadow-related settings—these control how deep and impenetrable shadows appear in caves and enclosed spaces.

Reduce Shadow Intensity

If you're struggling to see in caves, locate the shadow depth or darkness slider and move it toward lighter values. This will brighten shadowed areas without disabling the horror atmosphere entirely. The mod is designed to keep things dark, so expect shadows to remain prominent even at reduced settings.

Test in Different Environments

After adjusting, explore a cave system and the Nether to see how the changes feel. Shadows should still create tension and hide distant threats, but you should be able to navigate without constantly placing torches. If caves feel too bright, increase the shadow depth again slightly.

Fine-Tune for Your Preference

The beauty of this shader is that all changes apply immediately without restarting. Spend time tweaking until you find the balance between atmospheric horror and playability. Remember that your eyes will adjust over time, so test settings for at least a few minutes before deciding.
