Separate an Armored Elytra Back Into Components

Using the Grindstone

If you need to recover your original elytra and chestplate from an armored elytra, use a grindstone.

1. Place or open a grindstone

2. Put your armored elytra in one of the input slots

3. The grindstone will output both the elytra and chestplate separately

4. Collect both items

What to Expect

Both items will be returned with their current durability intact. This is useful if you want to swap armor types, repair individual pieces, or simply need the elytra and chestplate for different purposes. The grindstone method is non-destructive, so you won't lose either component in the separation process.
