Does Potato Tick? Mod: Improving Server Tick Performance

What This Mod Does

Does Potato Tick? Mod targets server tick time (TPS) rather than frames per second. Its main optimization disables mob and water calculations at long distances, cutting work the Forge game server does every tick. The creator reports TPS gains of up to four times. Because it changes server-side behavior, it does not directly raise FPS; in single-player it frees resources, which can indirectly help game performance.

Features and Compatibility

You can exclude specific entities or dimensions from the mod's optimizations, so nothing you rely on is affected. It also limits unnecessary fluid ticking to avoid performance problems. It works alongside performance mods such as Lithium, Canary, and Radium, and removes redundant rendering processes when paired with Embeddium Extras. The result is a server that can handle more players.
