How to Steer and Control Pitch with the Do A Barrel Roll Mod

Mouse Controls

With this mod installed, your mouse no longer just aims the camera. Moving the mouse up and down pitches your character, and moving it left and right rolls the character. This means you steer by feel rather than by pointing at a target.

Steps

1. Launch with Elytra and a rocket to get clear of the ground.

2. Move the mouse forward or back to pitch down or up. Pitch down to dive and gain speed, pitch up to climb and bleed speed.

3. Use the A and D keys for horizontal movement. A and D shift you sideways relative to your facing, letting you strafe without turning your whole body.

4. Combine pitch and roll: pitch slightly down, then roll to carve a turn instead of yawing.

5. To level out, watch the horizon and roll until the wings are parallel to it, then ease off the mouse.

Tips

• Make small mouse movements. Large flicks will send you into a spin.
• If you feel disoriented, stop input and let the wings stabilize before correcting.
• Practice pitch control first, then add roll once you are comfortable.
