Monitor and Optimize Chunk Ticking Performance

Understanding Regionized Chunk Ticking

DivineMC's Regionized Chunk Ticking (RCT) divides your world into regions that process in parallel across multiple threads. Each region completes before the next server tick begins, ensuring stability while maximizing throughput.

Checking Region Performance

Use the /tps command to monitor your server's tick rate. If TPS remains consistently high (near 20), your regions are processing efficiently. Watch for sudden drops when many players load new chunks—this indicates region boundaries being crossed.

Tuning Region Settings

Access your server configuration file and locate regionized chunk ticking options. Adjust region size based on your player count: smaller regions suit high-density areas with many players, while larger regions work better for exploration-heavy servers with spread-out activity.

Best Practices

  • Monitor /mspt (milliseconds per tick) to identify bottleneck regions
  • Reduce entity count in high-traffic areas to prevent region overload
  • Use the parallel world ticking feature to separate Nether and End processing from the Overworld, preventing one dimension from blocking others
