Grant players access to Distant Horizons commands

Permission overview

The Distant Horizons Plugin uses two main permissions to control who can run administrative commands.

Setting up permissions

1. Grant admin access:

Give the distant_horizons.admin permission to players or groups who should access /dhs commands. This includes:

  • /dhs reload – Reload configuration
  • /dhs pregen – Start LOD pre-generation

2. Configure in your permission plugin (LuckPerms, PermissionsEx, etc.):

`

/lp user <player> permission set distant_horizons.admin true

`

Or add to your permission config file:

`

distant_horizons.admin: true

`

Best practices

  • Only grant admin permissions to trusted staff (server admins, moderators).
  • Pre-generation and reloading affect server performance—restrict access accordingly.
  • Regular players don't need these permissions; the mod works automatically for them.

Verify permissions

Have the player run /dhs reload. If they lack permission, they'll see a denial message.
