What Distant Friends Adds

Distant Friends is a small mod that introduces player-like mobs into your world. These figures spawn far away from you and behave in ways that mimic real players: standing still at a distance, punching the air, and crouching as if trying to get your attention. They are designed to feel like other players watching you from afar.

The Disappearance Mechanic

The core of the mod is that you can never reach them. When you move within roughly 5 to 10 blocks of a distant friend, it vanishes without a trace. No drops, no trace left behind. This will happen repeatedly over time, with new figures occasionally appearing somewhere nearby, watching and gesturing, only to disappear the moment you close the gap.

How to Play Around It

There is no item or recipe to learn here; the experience is the encounter itself. Treat them as atmosphere rather than a target. Observe from a distance, note their waving and sneaking, and accept that approach ends the encounter. The mystery is the point.
