Explore and map the spruce forest
Navigation and landmarks
The custom spruce forest is dense and easy to get lost in. Start by building a tall pillar or beacon near the fortress as a reference point. This helps you navigate back if you wander far into the trees.
As you explore, mark interesting locations on your map: the lake, the waterfall, the forest house, and the blacksmith shop. Place torches or build small cairns at trail junctions to create a navigation network.
Finding resources and building sites
The forest contains plenty of spruce wood, leaves, and natural terrain variation. Look for clearings where you might build additional structures without excessive tree removal. The area around the lake and waterfall offers scenic building spots.
Note any caves or ravines you discover—these are valuable for mining. The forest also provides natural camouflage for underground bases if you want to hide structures beneath the tree canopy.
Establishing outposts
Consider building small shelters or waypoints deeper in the forest. A simple wooden hut with a bed and torches can serve as a safe spot if you're far from the fortress when night falls.
