How to Place Diagonal Fences in Minecraft
Understanding the Placement Rule
Diagonal Fences doesn't add a new block. You place the same vanilla (or modded) fence you always use, and the mod changes how it connects. A diagonal connection forms when two fence posts sit diagonally adjacent to each other — one block across and one block up or down on the horizontal plane — with no block occupying the corner between them. If a solid block fills that corner, the fences connect at a normal right angle instead.
Step-by-Step
1. Place your first fence post on the ground.
2. Place a second fence post one block to the side and one block forward (or back), so the two posts touch only at a corner.
3. Keep the corner block empty. If you place a block there, the fences will bend at 90 degrees rather than stretching diagonally.
4. Watch the fence model: it should visually stretch across the gap at a 45-degree angle, and the collision box will follow that same diagonal shape.
Mixing Angles
You can freely combine straight runs, 90-degree corners, and 135-degree diagonal corners in one enclosure. Break and replace individual posts to reroute a diagonal, and remove the corner block to convert a right angle into a diagonal. This works with any fence block registered by vanilla or other mods, so the same technique applies to modded wood types.
