How to Fix Diagonal Fences That Won't Connect

The Most Common Cause: A Block in the Corner

If two fences sit diagonally adjacent but connect at 90 degrees instead of diagonally, a block is almost certainly occupying the corner between them. The mod needs that corner space empty for the diagonal connection to form. Break the corner block and the fences should snap into a diagonal.

Other Things to Check

1. Are the posts actually diagonal? They must be one block across and one block forward, touching only at a corner. Two blocks in a straight line will never form a diagonal.

2. Is the fence type the same? Different fence materials may not connect to each other depending on their own rules. Use matching fences on both ends of a diagonal joint.

3. Is the block modded? Fences from other mods work only if they use standard connection behavior. A fence with custom connection logic may ignore the diagonal rule.

4. Did you place the post on valid ground? A fence floating without support may not render or connect properly.

Quick Diagnostic

Walk the fence line and look for any joint that bends at 90 degrees. At each one, check the inner corner for a block, torch, or plant. Remove obstructions, then re-place the diagonal post if needed. If it still fails, try breaking and replacing both posts in the joint — connection state sometimes needs a refresh after nearby blocks change.
