Take Better Screenshots with Depth of Field

Positioning Your Subject

Depth of Field shaders make screenshots look professional by mimicking real camera lenses. Position your subject (a mob, structure, or item) close to you—within a few blocks. This ensures it stays in sharp focus while the background blurs.

Composing Your Shot

Stand at a distance where your main subject is clearly visible but not filling the entire screen. The blur effect works best when there's depth in your scene—foreground, subject, and background all at different distances. Aim your crosshair at the subject you want sharp; the shader will focus there.

Capturing the Effect

Take your screenshot with F2 (default key). The blur will be rendered into the image, creating that professional camera lens appearance. Experiment with different angles and distances to see how the focus point changes the mood of your shot. Scenes with varied terrain or structures in the background show the blur effect most dramatically.
