Adjust Shader Intensity for Better Visibility in Dark Areas
Access Shader Settings
Open the shader options menu while in-game by pressing the designated key (usually accessed through your graphics settings or shader menu). Look for brightness, contrast, or ambient lighting sliders.
Increase Ambient Light
Deprivation Shaders intentionally darkens caves and underground areas for atmosphere. If you're struggling to see, gradually increase the ambient occlusion or global brightness slider. This lifts shadow detail without removing the gritty aesthetic.
Adjust Shadow Intensity
Reduce shadow strength if caves feel oppressively dark. Lower shadow values will make block details more visible while preserving the retro mood. Test small increments—the shader's appeal lies in its moody lighting, so dramatic changes may lose the intended effect.
Fine-Tune Block Lighting
If torches and glowstone feel dim, look for block light or emissive brightness controls. Boosting these slightly makes your light sources more effective without flattening the overall atmosphere.
Save and Test
Apply changes and spend time in different environments—caves, forests, and night sky—to ensure visibility matches your preference while maintaining the vintage aesthetic.
