How Sleeping Works in DarkSleep
A Gradual Night Instead of an Instant Skip
In vanilla Minecraft, one player sleeping is usually enough to skip the night entirely. DarkSleep changes this by making the night shorten gradually instead of ending all at once.
When a player enters a bed, the night does not immediately disappear. Instead, the remaining nighttime is reduced based on how many players are currently sleeping. The more players in bed, the faster the night progresses toward morning.
This means you no longer need every player on the server to sleep at the same time. A single player sleeping still helps, but the effect is smaller. As more players join in, the night speeds up further.
Because the night still passes rather than skipping, the world keeps running during those final moments. Mobs can still be present, and the transition to day feels more natural. The mechanic is designed mainly for multiplayer servers, where waiting for everyone to sleep is often impractical.
