DarkCap Mod: How the Experience Cap Works

What DarkCap Does

DarkCap Mod does not add any new blocks, items, or recipes. Its entire purpose is to change how much experience a player can hold at once. In vanilla Minecraft, experience accumulation is effectively unlimited, which can cause problems when other mods or server configurations rely on large experience totals. DarkCap replaces that open-ended behavior with a fixed ceiling.

The Cap Mechanic

With DarkCap installed, a player's experience points are capped at a maximum of 1000. Any experience gained beyond that point is discarded, and the total is set back to 1000 rather than continuing to climb. This keeps experience totals predictable and prevents runaway level growth.

Client and Server Use

The mod can be installed on both the client and the server. It is most useful on servers, where several experience-granting mods might otherwise stack together and push players far past the intended range. Note that the cap can also affect game balance by limiting how high players can level.
