Change Your Dark Blades Armor Color Without Losing Stats
Why Trim Instead of Dye
Dark Blades armor cannot be dyed like vanilla leather armor. However, armor trims let you customize the appearance while preserving your gear's powerful stats and enchantments—something dyeing cannot do.
How to Recolor Your Armor
1. Decide which trim pattern appeals to you (coast, dune, eye, host, raiser, rib, sentry, shaper, silence, snout, spire, tide, vex, or ward)
2. Choose a trim material that matches your desired color scheme
3. Visit a Smithing Table with your Dark Blades piece, the matching template, and trim material
4. Apply the trim
Changing Trims Later
You can apply a new trim over an existing one. Simply return to the Smithing Table with a different template or material to update the look.
Color Reference
Copper trims appear greenish, lapis is deep blue, emerald is green, amethyst is purple, and quartz is white. Experiment to find combinations that suit your character's aesthetic.
