Preserve Water Clarity While Using Dappled Shaders

Locate Water Rendering Options

Access the shader settings menu and find the water or liquid rendering section. Dappled Shaders is designed to maintain clear water surfaces, but you can fine-tune this behavior.

Adjust Water Transparency and Reflection

Look for these controls:

  • Water transparency: Controls how far you can see through water. Increase for clearer underwater visibility
  • Water reflection strength: Adjusts how much the sky and landscape reflect on the water surface
  • Caustic effects: Softens or intensifies the rippling light patterns underwater

Prevent Golden Tint Underwater

Dappled Shaders' warm autumn tones can sometimes tint underwater areas too heavily. If this bothers you:

  • Look for water color or tint controls and reduce the warm overlay
  • Adjust fog distance underwater to maintain visibility without color distortion
  • Disable underwater bloom effects if they're making the water glow too much

Test your settings by swimming in different water types—oceans, rivers, and lakes may render differently. Shallow water near sand will show the most dramatic color effects, while deep water is naturally darker. Adjust until you can see structures and mobs clearly while maintaining the shader's aesthetic.
