Build an Effective Neon City with Cyberpunk Shaders
Choose the Right Blocks and Light Sources
Cyberpunk Shaders excels when you use blocks that emit or reflect light. Prioritize:
- Glowstone, Neon Tubes, and Glow Lichen: These become brilliant focal points under the shader.
- Glass and Tinted Glass: Creates luminous windows and barriers that catch neon colors.
- Dark Concrete and Blackstone: Provides contrast; the shader's deep shadows make these blocks dramatic.
- Copper and Oxidized Variants: Reflect light in interesting ways.
- Amethyst Blocks: Add purple tones that complement the retro sci-fi palette.
Design with Lighting in Mind
Place light sources strategically:
- Use vertical light columns along building edges for that classic cyberpunk look.
- Create neon signs by combining glowstone with colored concrete or wool in patterns.
- Leave dark alleys and shadowed areas between bright structures—the contrast is what makes the shader shine.
- Avoid uniform lighting; cluster bright spots with deep shadows nearby.
- Use water and lava near lights for reflective, atmospheric effects.
The shader transforms these elements into a glowing, moody cityscape.
